In Telangana, there was a demand of 2.04 lakh metric tonnes of sweet potatoes, but only 32,747 tonnes were produced. Currently, Telangana government is collecting potato seeds from Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Shimla, Agra, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh from some traders.
In this background, International Potato Center, University of Horticulture Sciences, Bangalore will supply the seeds produced by ARC to the farmers for free in this monsoon season.
