SCIENCE & FAITH | OPEN LETTER
A SON OF BENIN REPUBLIC WRITES HOME
An Open Letter to His Excellency, Romuald Wadagni, the President of the Republic of Benin, Regarding a Breakthrough Discovery at the Crossroad of Science and Faith
On a Mathematical Discovery That Bridges Science and Faith, and What It Means for a Nation That Shaped the Man Who Made It in the United States of America
Science180 – Dr. Nathanael-Israel Israel, Founder – July 2026
His Excellency Mr. Romuald Wadagni
President of the Republic of Benin
Palais de la Marina, Cotonou, Republic of Benin
Your Excellency,
Allow me first to offer my sincere congratulations on your inauguration as President of our nation. It is with real pride that I follow, from the United States, the beginning of your service to Benin.
I write to you with deep respect, and with a sense of duty that transcends geography. Although I have lived and worked in the United States for more than twenty years, I remain, in heart and in history, a son of the Benin Republic. The education I received in Benin shaped the scientist I became, and I did not wish you to learn of a discovery I believe carries real significance for both science and faith through other channels or at a later hour. You deserve to hear it directly and respectfully from me.
I am writing to inform you that I have made what I believe is one of the most significant scientific discoveries of our generation. A discovery that has been covered by more than 1,000 media outlets globally, recognized by two independent award bodies in the United States in 2026, and is now reaching audiences on multiple continents. Benin Republic is where this story began, and I want your office to know that.
The Journey, From Benin to the World
I completed my undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Benin at the University of Abomey-Calavi, graduating first in my class, and those years laid the foundation for all that followed. I carried that foundation to the United States, where I live as a US citizen, earned my doctorate in plant, insect, and microbial sciences at the University of Missouri, again finishing first in my class among hundreds of peers. Before I had even completed my PhD, I was offered a position as a research scientist at a Fortune 500 company, a recognition that grew directly from the training Benin first gave me.
Today, I am an active member of twelve major American scientific societies (www.Israel120.com/affiliations), among them the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, the American Society for Microbiology, the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, the American Society of Agronomy, the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Crop Science Society of America, the Ecological Society of America, the Soil Science Society of America, the American Physical Society, the American Philosophical Association, and the American Mathematical Society. These memberships reflect a career built on rigorous, cross-disciplinary scientific inquiry. Through the organization I founded, Science180 (www.Science180.com), I have spent the last 12 years working on a question that most scientists and theologians have quietly left unanswered.
The Discovery
For centuries, a prevailing assumption has shaped the way humanity approaches both science and religion: that the two are in fundamental conflict, that the more rigorously one examines the universe, the less room remains for a Creator. Entire educational systems have been built on that assumption. Generation after generation has been taught that choosing science means setting faith aside, and that holding faith means turning away from evidence. That assumption, I can now demonstrate, is mathematically false.
Working from peer-collected scientific data that has been publicly available for centuries, I derived an original formula for the formation timelines of the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun. Based on my findings, the Earth was completed in 2.82 days, the Moon in 3.32 days, and the Sun in 3.69 days. These figures follow the same sequence as the Book of Genesis, placing the Earth on the third day and the Moon and the Sun on the fourth. I present this as the conviction and conclusion of my work, arrived at from the data rather than from scripture, and I believe it is testable and open to honest examination.
This is not a theological argument. It is not an interpretation of scripture. It is a calculation, derived from scientific data that has been publicly available for centuries, but never properly analyzed. The result is testable, verifiable, and repeatable. It took twelve years of independent research, conducted without institutional pressure or religious sponsorship, to complete.
Available on Amazon, IngramSpark, and Science180.com, my latest book, Boldest Scientific Formula of God and Creation, presents the framework in language that even laypeople can understand. A discovery of this magnitude does not belong only on a shelf.
In May 2026, this body of work received formal recognition from two independent bodies. Best of Best Review named me Best Scientist at the Intersection of Science and Faith in the United States of 2026. The Evergreen Awards named me Best Scientist Bridging Mathematics and Religion of 2026. My work has since been covered by more than 1,000 media outlets globally, including the Associated Press, Yahoo Finance, The Globe and Mail, and FOX, ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates across the United States.

What This Opens for the World
The significance of this discovery goes beyond resolving a centuries-old debate. When humanity operates under a false assumption that the universe and its Creator are separate subjects requiring separate minds, it places an artificial ceiling on what science can achieve and what faith can understand. Remove that ceiling, and both are liberated.
The deeper we understand the architecture of the universe, the greater the discoveries we can make: in medicine, in physics, in the technologies that improve and extend human life. And the more clearly we see that architecture is the work of a Creator, the more our relationship with God is not threatened by knowledge but deepened by it. Science and faith were never meant to be at war. My discovery proves they never were.
Your Excellency, Benin gave me the tools to think, to seek, and to believe that the two are not opposites. I carry that origin in everything I do, and I did not want this moment to pass without honoring it. It is my hope that this discovery brings some measure of pride to the nation that first taught me.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurance of my highest consideration and of my deep attachment to our homeland, Benin, le « Quartier latin de l’Afrique ».
Respectfully submitted,
