The committee for the transfer of powers to the new Prime Minister today held its meeting to deliberate on the assumption of office by the new Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
The committee led by outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Khadar Guleid discussed among other things the smooth transfer of powers to the new Prime Minister.
The New Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is tomorrow ( Monday) expected to take over powers from his Predecessor Mohamed Hussein Roble.
The nine member committee include Interior Minister Abdullahi Mohamed Nur, his information counterpart Osman Dubbe, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Khadija Mohamed Diriye and Transport civil Aviation Duran Farah minister among other senior government officials.
This comes a day after Somali Federal Parliament unanimously endorsed the appointment of Hamza Abdi Barre as the 21st Prime Minister of the Federal government.
All the 220 MPs of the House of People voted in favour of the approval of Barre’s appointment.
Outgoing Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has been PM since September 2020.
The new Prime Minister is set to select members of his cabinet in the coming days.
