The youth of President Boakai’s ruling Unity Party in Nimba County are becoming increasingly uneasy as the President continues to make appointments with local government officials without hearing their names.

Nimba County, Liberia, March 28, 2024- The secretary general of the Unity Party youth congress in Nimba Priniss Domah has threatened that they will obstruct the entry of Vice President Jeremiah Koung, who hails from Nimba and county chairman Nelson Bearngar, if they fail to seek their interest.
The aggrieved partisans lament that they have been downplayed and dis-respected by VP Koung and county chairman Bearngar, whom they accused of having special interests other than their quest for a job despite working very hard to have the Rescue Ticket elected in 2023.
Youth leader Domah disclosed that they are over two hundred (200) partisans of the ruling Unity Party who are well qualified to work in local government but are being ignored.
According to him, the government only focuses on the collaborating party MDR of Senator Prince Johnson and friends of Vice President Jeremiah Koung, who now influence appointments in the county.
He said the threat against the two leaders is based on bad leadership and the treatment they have received from their party and political leaders.
Domah noted that those who fought to take the party to victory in the county are yet to be rewarded with jobs, but rather those who, he says, were seeking glory from other political parties are the ones now benefiting.
Callers on community radio expressed dismay over such treatment, noting that fewer people from the Gio ethnic tribe are being appointed to the Office of Vice President Jeremiah Koung than members of the five tribes that made up the county.
When contacted, the Offices of the Vice President, alongside the office of county chairman Nelson Bearngar, refused to comment.
Meanwhile, some callers accused self-proclaimed godfather Senator Prince Johnson, who has just begun his third 9-year term in the Senate, of making no impact in the lives of citizens with no developmental activities across the 19 administrative districts except himself and his immediate family.
