Repeated attacks on humanitarian warehouses put vital medical aid at risk in Ukraine: WHO

We begin in Ukraine where an overnight air attack in the Kyiv region affected one of the World Health Organization or WHO’s main warehouses storing humanitarian medical supplies.

This marked the third attack on a WHO storage facility in the last three months.

Here’s Spokesman Christian Lindmeier, speaking to journalists in Geneva:

“The attacks are part of a broader pattern affecting humanitarian operations across the country. In 2026, at least 20 attacks have affected warehouses storing humanitarian supplies, including 15 attacks on warehouses holding health-related humanitarian supplies.”

Mr. Lindmeier said humanitarian medical supplies are a lifeline for people who need healthcare in frontline and hard-to-reach areas, and attacks on warehouses storing them can delay or disrupt the delivery of essential health support to those who need it most.

He stressed that the locations of United Nations and WHO facilities and warehouses are known to all parties to the conflict as they are communicated through established arrangements.

UN and partners seek nearly $50 million for Nepal

The United Nations and partners have launched a $49.6 million emergency appeal to deliver support to more than 84,000 people affected by the devastating flash floods and landslides in Nepal.

The four-month response plan – announced on Friday in Kathmandu – addresses critical operational gaps identified by the Government to prevent further hardship and disease outbreaks as winter approaches in the mountainous Himalayas region.

Lila Pieters Yahia, UN Resident Coordinator in Nepal, noted that “families have lost everything: their loved ones, their homes, their livelihoods,’ which she said were “swept away in minutes.”

The response focuses on essential humanitarian needs across multiple sectors. For example, families will receive direct cash transfers to buy essential goods – a move that will also help boost local economies. 

Humanitarians will also distribute cold-weather shelter materials before winter sets in, as well as portable solar units so households that are off the electricity grid can have power and light.

Other operations include restoring damaged water networks, deploying purification systems, and delivering hygiene supplies to prevent the spread of waterborne illnesses.

The catastrophic flooding was triggered by a glacier collapse on 26 August. More than 1,250 people have been killed, according to latest figures, and thousands more remain missing.

West Bank: UN rights report warns of forcible displacement from three refugee camps

Israeli security forces forcibly displaced the entire Palestinian populations of three refugee camps in the occupied West Bank in January and February 2025. They continue to prevent their return, which violated international law, according to a new report by the UN human rights office, OHCHR.

It said Israeli military, police and other forces deployed during the ‘Operation Iron Wall’ offensive killed civilians, destroyed hundreds of homes, damaged roads and other infrastructure, cut off water and electricity and blocked humanitarian access to the Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarem refugee camps.

Israeli forces went door to door ordering residents to leave. Some displaced Palestinians told OHCHR that Israeli officers said there would be no more refugee camps and that they should “all go to Jordan”.

By October 2025, 52 per cent of structures in Jenin refugee camp, 48 per cent in Nur Shams and 36 per cent in Tulkarem refugee camp had been destroyed or damaged. 

The report underscored that large-scale, long-term and systematic displacement of over 33,000 Palestinians from refugee camps during the Iron Wall military operation raises serious concerns of the crime against humanity of forcible transfer.
