The Liberia National Police issues an early warning to the public, especially drivers, to observe upcoming safety regulations.  

Monrovia, Thursday, March 21, 2024-The Liberian National Police cautions drivers across the country and the general public to watch out for upcoming safety measures protecting lives and property.

In a press release signed by Police Spokesman H. Moses Carter, II, all unauthorized vehicles with high beam lights, sirens, flashers, and other emergency devices are asked to be removed. Right-hand drive vehicles are to leave the streets.

Police say such vehicles are not allowed to be driven in Liberia, as per the country’s Vehicle and Traffic Laws.

The LNP also announces that all non-gas station gasoline sellers (can-boys) along the main streets in Monrovia and across the country are to be removed and that vehicle operators who constantly use the opposite Lane are asked to desist immediately.

Vehicle, tri-cycle (Keke) and motorcycle owners are asked to register, insure, or update their documents.

Police say these measures are intended to provide an enabling environment that will protect lives and create a safe means for the commution of motorists and pedestrians. 

The Liberia National Police, after its nationwide consultations, will, at the soonest time, commence general inspection to ensure roadworthiness and that members of the driving public are in compliance with the vehicle and traffic laws of Liberia. Press Release
