The Commission certificates Sokan, Sr., Jeremiah Garwo as Representative-elect of electoral district#1, Grand Gedeh County (Independent) and ruling Unity Party Candidate Twayen, Jr., Nya D.  Senator-elect of Nimba County.

Speaking during the certification ceremony on Monday, May 6, 2024, NEC Chairperson Davidetta Browne Lansanah said the certificates constitute the winners’ legal and sufficient Authority to represent counties and people in the 55th Legislature.

In response, newly elected Representative Jeremiah G. Sokan, Sr., says the journey to the office was not easy in the park but one that was filled with memories, great experiences, and wonderful lessons.

He notes that, more importantly, his people’s will to entrust him with leadership at a critical juncture is remarkable, saying, “Let me accept this election with humility and promise to do our utmost best.”

Representative Soken replaces the late Representative-elect Erol Madison Gwion, who died following the 2023 elections.

He congratulates the chairperson and Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission for their hard work conducting credible and peaceful by-election in his county.

Newly-elected Senator Nya D. Twayen, Jr. thanks the people of Liberia, especially his native Nimba County, for regaining confidence in him to serve, noting that he does not take the job likely.

“I just want to be grateful to my family and my friends, and to every one of you, leaders, chiefs,  women and youth of Nimba County, and also to the Elder Council, for adding a voice at the last minute in these electoral processes,” he concludes.
