Somalia ‘s South West State President Abdiaziz Hassan Lafta-Garen has paid courtesy call on the new Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

Lafta-Garen visited Barre on Monday evening at his office in the capital Mogadishu.

The South West State leader congratulated Hamza for the overwhelming vote of confidence and endorsement given to him by the members of the House of People of the Federal Parliament.

The regional State leader assured the Prime Minister of his commitment to fostering close working relationship with him as he embarks on his mandate of serving the Nation.

Barre was endorsed by the MPs of the Lower House in a special session held on Saturday that took place at Villa Hargeisa located within Villa Somalia.

All the 220 Members of Parliament unanimously approved the appointment of Barre as the new Prime Minister succeeding the outgoing PM Mohamed Hussein Roble.

Roble has been in office since September 2020 after the ouster of his predecessor Hassan Ali Kheyre from power by the former administration.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had appointed Barre on 15th of June to become the country’s 21st Prime Minister.

The new Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is expected to in the coming weeks name of members of his Cabinet.
