Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has convened an emergency meeting of members of the Northern Regions Electoral Commission.
The meeting, which will take place in the office of the Prime Minister, was announced in a statement issued by the office of the Minister on Monday night.
Federal government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimuu said Prime Minister Roble had completed consultations with the Speaker of the Upper House and the Deputy Prime Minister.
This comes after Speaker of the Upper House Abdi Hashi Abdullahi presented to Prime Minister Roble various solutions to the controversy surrounding the parliamentary elections in the northern regions of Somaliland.
The Upper House Speaker suggested that Deputy Prime Minister shall be the joint leadership in guiding the parliamentary elections in Somaliland.
He also suggested SEIT committee elects from among the eight members from the constituency of Somaliland, and if they do not reach an agreement, a joint board be formed as agreed on 19 June 2020.
