Outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has on Saturday met with the newly elected President Hassan sheikh Mohamud at VillaSomalia.
The consultative meeting revolved around discussions on the general situation in the country, continuation of the Somali government progress and upcoming hand over power.
According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, the two leaders took a walking tour of various departments of the Presidency.
“H.E President @M_Farmaajo and H.E President @HassanSMohamud have today held face-to-face talks and took a walking tour of various departments of the presidency, Villa Somalia. This comes ahead of the handover ceremony which has been confirmed to be held on Monday, 23rd May 2022.” read the statement.
A high level committee for preparation of the assumption of office of the new President said that the hand over ceremony will take place on Monday 23rd at the Presidential Palace.
This is third time the two leaders are meeting at the top office days after Mohamud won the presidency in elections held behind blast walls at Afisyoni tent in the heavily fortified Halane camp.
Mohamud defeated the incumbent President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo after garnering 214 against Farmaajo’s 110.
