It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we announce the sudden demise of our close colleague and MPSA alumni (Cohort 1, 2011), Hajiya Raheemat MOMODU, Principal Programme Officer, Human Security and Civil Society Organisation, in the Department of Gender and Social Affairs at the ECOWAS Commission.

Raheemat joined the Commission in Abuja as Principal Programme Officer, Democracy and Good Governance in the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security on August 1, 2008. Later, she was sent to the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as the ECOWAS Liaison Officer in November 2008. She returned to the Commission in Abuja in July 2018 as the Principal Programme Officer, Human Security and Civil Society Organisations, until her unexpected passing.

The IPSS community mourns the sudden passing of Hajiya Raheemat MOMODU, who was a dedicated and hardworking colleague. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to her loving family.

May her gentle soul find eternal rest!
