A planned meeting between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohamed bin Zayed and Somali leader Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been called off at the eleventh hour after members of President Mohamud’s delegation tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Media outlets in the capital Mogadishu reported the better part of today that Mohamud’s two day visit had been lengthen after part of his delegation were quarantined for exhibiting COVID -19 related symptoms.
The President has also been placed under isolation in a hotel in the capital Abu Dhabi though preliminary test carried on him showed negativity to the virus.
Mohamud is said to have come in to contact with the delegation who had tested positive for the global virus.
Somali government is yet to officially comment on the delay to the meeting between the two Head of States.
President Mohamud is set to solicit for more funds in a bid to finance his government and strengthening of the two countries relations is also expected to feature in the talks.
