Teamsters Local 237 today endorsed City Comptroller Scott Stringer for Mayor of New York City.
Local 237, which represents 24,000 City employees, praised Stringer’s advocacy on behalf of frontline workers through the pandemic, his readiness to be mayor, and his proven record of supporting working people and the critical public institutions that employ and serve them.
“We have absolutely no doubt that Scott Stringer is ready to lead New York City on day one as mayor, and we have absolutely no doubt about what he will do when he gets to City Hall,” Greg Floyd, President of Teamsters Local 237, said. “He will stand up for frontline workers. He will make desperately-needed investments in our critical public institutions, like our public housing and public hospitals. And he will bring back New York City stronger and fairer than ever. We know Scott, and we trust Scott, because throughout his time in public service, he has always stuck by his values. Scott will deliver a recovery and a city that puts working people first, and we’re proud to support him to be New York City’s next mayor.”
“I’m so proud to have the support of a group of New Yorkers who, throughout the pandemic, made the difficult decision to constantly put other people ahead of themselves,” Stringer said. “When many of us were staying home, they went to work — taking care of our school buildings, our public hospitals, and our NYCHA campuses without ever asking for special treatment. As mayor, I’ll be ready on day one to lead our city out of this crisis, but we can’t reopen the city the same way we closed it — I will reopen the city more fair, more just, and more equitable, and I have the skills, the experience, and the detailed plans to deliver. I want to thank Greg Floyd for his leadership and partnership, and I look forward to working with the members of Local 237 to win this race and deliver for New Yorkers.”
Comptroller Stringer has also been endorsed by Teamsters Joint Council 16.
