At least two Kenya police officers have died in an ambush attack in Mandera county and eleven others sustained various injuries in a suspected terrorism incident that happened at around 8 am on Saturday,.
The victims using a police lorry were heading to Nairobi from Mandera.
The victims encountered the ambush upon reaching the Jabi area about 40 kms east of Rhamu police station.
The incident was confirmed by corporal Joseph Mutua and constable Dominic Rutto Lokonyan.
He pointed finger at Al-Shabab militants who are seen as a major threat in areas along Kenya’s border with Somalia, targeting security personnel and establishments as well as commuter vehicles.
The injured were identified as Seargent Benard Kariuku who sustained a head bullet injury, and constable Geoffrey Matayo had a bullet lodged in his stomach while constable Andrew Kibrogon Rono was shot in the right arm.
